“the impacts of covid-19 upon northern communities.”

pandemic: at the end of the world

DOCUMENTARY SHORT

2020

15 MINUTES

HIGH DEFINITION (HD)

A Co-Production of the National Film Board of Canada, and NahHO Productions.

In March 2020; the world is ablaze with covid. In panic; misinformation is spreading just as fast. How do we get ahead of it all?

We know that in remote places like the Amazon, the death toll, especially in remote Indigenous communities is catastrophic.

Will Northern Canada be next? The North has a long and tragic history of epidemic devastation.

With the testimony of Historian Randal Pokiak (Bukik) we learn about the abandonment of one of the oldest continuously occupied communities in North America; and how a series of epidemics turned it into an open-air graveyard… twice.
